Dear Pitt community,
Earlier today, our Board of Trustees approved operating and capital budgets for Fiscal Year 2026. These balanced budgets reflect a commitment not only to ensuring financial sustainability given our current operating environment, but also to elevating the possibilities inherent in our university’s mission, including our shared focus through the Plan for Pitt 2028.
Soon, you will receive messages from Executive Senior Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer Dwayne Pinkney and from Vice Chancellor for Human Resources James W. Gallaher Jr. Both of those messages will provide more details about what these budgets mean for you.
Over these recent months, a lot has changed for Pitt and our nation, yet the resiliency and perseverance of our community have been demonstrated time and again. I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the Board of Trustees for approving the budgets, and to every member of our Pitt community who has reached out to offer suggestions, questions and support during this process. These are complex times, but your efforts, without question, are our strength and are essential to Pitt’s success.
With warm regards,
Joan Gabel
Chancellor
