Convocation took place on August 26 as we welcomed one of Pitt's most talented and diverse classes ever: 4,825 new students from more than 40 states and more 20 countries. It was great to share Pitt's legacy and tradition with a new class—a legacy and tradition that they are now a part of.

More than 4,000 students from all corners of the globe gathered August 24 for the ceremony, during which Chancellor Gallagher and other distinguished members of the University welcomed Pitt's newest students and families to campus.
Over 4,000 Pitt personnel packed Bigelow Boulevard for the University’s Staff and Faculty Appreciation Picnic. Hosted by Chancellor Patrick Gallagher, the May 4, 2016, event featured food, music, prizes, dancing, and games.
More than 1,000 students, faculty, staff, and friends of Pitt joined Vice President Joe Biden at an April 5, 2016, event to launch the "It's On Us Week of Action" at colleges and universities across the country. For more than 75 years, the Heinz Chapel Choir has presented a cappella music at the Heinz Memorial Chapel. This year, I was able to welcome and host those who attended the choir's holiday performance.
We welcomed more than 7,800 students to the Pittsburgh campus during Arrival Survival. Fortunately, unseasonably cool weather helped to make everything go smoothly. As Pitt does every year, the week was jam packed with get-togethers, events, and give-aways.
